Get closer to nature and discover the haunting beauty of Namaqualand by staying in a tent. Not just any tent, but a unique, top-class tented camp. Agama Tented Camp, Namaqualand's newest bush camp experience, lies in the heart of an 8 000 ha farm, 20 km north from Garies, in the centre of the floral kingdom.
Agama Tented Camp is a bush camp, a breakaway, skilfully hidden in a secluded "kloof". It does not intrude into the world of the wild, it is part of it. Here up to 14 guests at a time can relax, unwind and totally enjoy the refreshing experience of becoming part of the bush, with a variety of small game and Gemsbuck, while enjoying sundowners as the kaleidoscope of day gives way to the blackness of night and stars, only a touch away.
In good seasons the veld around Agama Tented Camp is carpeted with flowers in breathtaking hues. Visitors can stroll through the veld soaking up the beauty. Day and night time scenic drives on a game viewing vehicle may be available, weather and availability of a guide permitting. This allows guests to enjoy the matchless experience of seeing animals in their own environment.

Namaqualand, one of the world's most enchanting semi-desert areas, is the true world of the great outdoors. Annual rainfall is erratic. Winter day time temperatures vary from a cool 4ºC to a moderate maximum of 25ºC, while in the summer the mercury rises to 30ºC and at times even 40ºC. In winter nothing beats gathering around a roaring fire in a traditional 'kookskerm' (cooking shelter) to socialize, enjoy drinks and discuss experiences of the day. In summer lesser fires simply add to the atmosphere, enhancing the beauty of the veld at night and somehow bringing the stars of the pristine heavens that little bit closer.
The comfortable tented accommodation all have their own private bathrooms and spacious decks from where you can absorb this relatively unexplored part of the country. Whether it is an early morning drive, sundowners with breathtaking views, a hike or huddled around a fire in the Kookskerm (Boma), Agama Tented Camp will touch all your senses and offer you an unforgettable experience.
